Service Assistant Engineer – UK Wide (National)

Summary

RJ Urmson Commissioning Engineers Ltd (RJU) seek a driven service assistant engineer. You will be working with a qualified ventilation service engineer. Ideally you will have a basic understanding of the critical ventilation sector and Healthcare Technical Memorandum (HTM) 03-01 and healthcare industry regulations (not essential) as RJU specialise in the verifications of operating theatres, cleanrooms, and aseptic units in the healthcare and NHS sectors.

Job Role

  • Report to the lead service engineer
  • Assist with testing of critical ventilation primarily within the healthcare sector. Typical locations would be operating theatres, ITUs, cleanrooms, aseptic units and endoscopy departments
  • Assist with testing including airflow and pressure measurements, microbiological air sampling, noise and environmental measurements
  • Assist with auditing of Air Handling Units (AHUs), and re-balancing airflows and carry out critical ventilation verification supply and extract air change rates
  • Assist with testing of LEV’s, MSC’s, fume cupboards, isolators and laminar flow cabinets
  • Provide full written reports with conclusions and recommendations
  • Attend pre safety brief with site management if required
  • Participate in all pre-job “Tool Box Talks”
  • Wear proper PPE according to safety procedures
  • Compliance with company policies, procedures and processes to ensure that regulations are complied with for our ongoing accreditation to safecontractor and CHAS and ISO

Person Specification

  • A basic understanding of the critical ventilation sector (DESIRABLE)
  • Experience of testing LEV’s, MSC’s, fume cupboards, isolators, laminar flow cabinets (DESIRABLE)
  • A basic understanding of Healthcare Technical Memorandum (HTM) 03-01 and healthcare industry regulations (DESIRABLE)
  • Ability to consult, build relationships and credibly propose solutions
  • Competent at written communication – internally and externally
  • Liaise and develop working relationships both with the customer and other employees within the company
  • To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule
  • Developed IT skills (eg Mobile App, Excel, Word etc)
  • Represent and promote the business in a professional and positive manner

Experience & Qualifications

• Educated to higher education level, preferably in science or engineering

• A basic understanding of the critical ventilation sector (DESIRABLE)

• Experience of testing LEV’s, MSC’s, fume cupboards, isolators, laminar flow cabinets (DESIRABLE)

• A basic understanding of Healthcare Technical Memorandum (HTM) 03-01 and healthcare industry regulations (DESIRABLE)

• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card

• Asbestos Awareness

• IPAF and PASMA certified (DESIRABLE)

• Successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check

• Driving license
