Sales Consultant – Chorley, Lancashire


RJ Urmson Commissioning Engineers (RJU) seek a driven Sales Consultant (minimum of 2 years’ experience). Ideally you will have knowledge of the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors including the verification, surveying and testing of operating theatres, pharmacy clean rooms, research departments and aseptic units to HTM 03-01 regulations, but not essential.

You will sell the following services: HEPA filters supply, installation & DOP testing, pharmacy cleanroom / aseptic unit maintenance / service, containment booth testing, down flow / draft bench testing, fume cupboard testing, isolator testing, laminar flow testing, LEV (local exhaust ventilation) testing and microbiological safety cabinet testing (and others) to both existing and prospective customers and take responsibility for sourcing new business, maximising opportunities from the existing client base and cross selling.

Job Role

  • Reporting to the Sales Manager
  • Working predominantly in the M&E contracting and end user markets
  • Establishing long term positive and productive relationships with consultants / specifiers, M&E contractors and end users whilst promoting the benefits of new products and technologies
  • Achieving targeted sales growth and maintaining a strong pipeline of business is essential
  • Maintaining the company’s customer information database (CRM) and ensuring that management are kept fully informed through reports and for company intelligence to support marketing and sales decision making
  • Preparing quotations and tenders for new and existing customers and following up in a very professional manner
  • To become technically conversant with the company’s product and service portfolio, being able to discuss the function of the equipment knowledgably with current and potential customers
  • Produce analysis reports and other information as required by the management team to assist with sales, financial and operational planning
  • To provide excellence in both verbal and written communication including bid / tender writing and support to marketing colleagues

Person Specification

  • Preferably have knowledge of healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors including verification, surveys and testing of operating theatres, pharmacy clean rooms, research departments and aseptic units
  • Preferably existing relationships in the healthcare and pharmaceuticals contracting market
  • Significant credentials across transactional, consultative and complex selling
  • A professional and solutions-based approach to exceeding customer service requirements
  • Expertise in pipeline development and conversion across both the public and private sectors
  • Success in both developing new business and growing established customer accounts
  • Experience of customer relationship management processes and systems
  • Evidence of the development and implementation of effective sales collateral
  • Key competencies comprising of selling, interpersonal and team-working skills
  • Represent and promote the business in a professional and positive manner

Experience & Qualifications

• Educated to higher education level

• Minimum 2 years’ sales experience 

• Knowledge of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors including verifications, surveying and testing of operating theatres, pharmacy clean rooms, research departments and aseptic units (DESIREABLE)

• Sound understanding of Health Technical Memorandum (HTM 03-01) industry regulations (DESIRABLE)

• Developed IT skills (eg Excel, Word etc)

• Driving license
